Dr. Klaus Hagmann Consulting

In addition to regional ingredients, there is one thing above all in home-made high-quality distillates: a lot of manual work, know-how, passion and lifeblood.
But for the connoisseurs almost never noticeable, the way there is with the most different emotions: Joy, fun and inventiveness, but also disappointment, anger and frustration.
From my own 30 years of experience I know: Especially in difficult situations, exchange and an expert opinion often helps to bridge obstacles. New food for thought in the right place or the chance to exchange ideas can make decisions more soundly and with a clear conscience. No matter whether you are planning, buying or optimizing a distillery, an independent opinion is always helpful and protects against bad investments and disappointments. Always remember – distilleries and distillation plants often accompany you throughout your life and are often one-off investments that need to be well thought out and individually planned. No matter whether it is a hobby, a sideline or a full-time occupation, the distillery must fully meet your needs. Then the operation and distillation will be fun and the spark will fly, the fascination of the developing and condensing alcohol vapours in the plant will be noticeable and the shiny, warm copper will create an atmosphere that leads to unique distillates that slowly run out of the distillery.

The amount of expertise behind the topic of distillery technology is often underestimated. It is a mixture of raw materials science in the cereal and fruit sector and basic knowledge of herbs and drugs, microbiology and biotechnology in mashing and alcoholic fermentation, inorganic and organic chemistry in understanding the alcohols produced, physical chemistry and process technology in distillation and, of course, one should also be familiar with the handling and maintenance of mashing equipment, pumps and bottling plants. Modern distillery control and computer technology, which have already found their way into the distillation process, fermentation monitoring and many other processes in distillery operations, are also easy to operate, but must always be functional.

Therefore it does no harm to delve as deeply as possible into the subject matter, and my specialist books will certainly help you a great deal. Under technical literature you can have a look at the four books offered there. For further, individual help I am of course at your disposal.

This naturally also includes the other areas of fruit processing. My home at the foot of the Swabian Alb is a traditional fruit growing area and the orchard meadows characterize the landscape. Accordingly, the possibilities for utilisation are manifold, of which the classic juice and must production is certainly the most important. Here, too, you will receive valuable tips on how to refine these often very elaborately produced products into true regional delicacies.

In cooperation with the company Karl Bockmeyer Kellereitechnik GmbH we can offer you suitable equipment and aids, but also informative seminars and workshops on these topics.

Take a look around and discover my comprehensive range of consulting services for many areas of spirits and beverage production. Do not hesitate if you have any questions.
